RYA Start Yachting Course Summary
The RYA Start Yachting Sail Cruising Course is a fantastic way to give yacht sailing a try. Running over 2 days during the week or at weekends it brings students with no sailing experience into this amazing sport or past time and also includes 1 nights accommodation on board your training yacht. We limit course numbers to just 4 students.
During this RYA start yachting practical course you will learn sea terms, parts of the boat and what they a re used for, how to tie knots and how to operate the boats controls, including using winches and jammers correctly and safely. You will sail the boat under sail using all points of sail and steer and sail the boat under sail and under power.
Our normal course fee is from £199 per student at low season, £299 in mid season & £399 at high season. This includes, tea and coffee facilities, breakfast cereal and your shared accommodation for the night.
RYA Start Yachting Low Ratio Sailing Course
The RYA allows a maximum of 5 students on the start yachting practical course, with the course based totally on board the yacht, this can usually mean sharing a cabin with a stranger. At Solent Boat Training we run a lower student to yacht ratio course and so offer you your own bed for the night over the 2 days of the course.
Why not book the whole yacht for a private course for up to 4 persons from as little as £796 midweek or £1596 for weekend courses.
Bavaria 37 Start Yachting Cruising Yacht
Our Bavaria 37ft cruising yacht has 3 double cabins and a double bed conversion in the saloon. Her large galley and bathroom ensure your time on board is enjoyable at every point as we travel around the Solent.
Our RYA start yachting practical course runs from our Shamrock Quay marina base in Southampton. Every course is different, but you will enjoy a night on board and visit one of the many marinas around the Solent. These include Ocean Village marina, Port Hamble marina, East Cowes marina, Haslar marina and Lymington Yacht Haven marina. Each of these marinas have excellent facilities such as bars, bistros, laundry, shops and showers that compliment the yacht's own facilities.
Minimum student age is 12. Under 18`s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
