Navigation Pre Course Requirements
The RYA provide pre-requisite guidance or sometimes referred to as Assumed Knowledge, to ensure that all students are best prepared for the next level of training course, within their chosen scheme.
By meeting these requirements, this will ensure that a student or candidate can gain the most out of the training they are undertaking, whilst increasing the chances of successful completion.
RYA Essential Navigation & Seamanship: | This course is an introductory course and requires no Pre Course knowledge or experience. However, having completed any of the introductory practical courses prior to undertaking this course, would prove beneficial. SBT currently only offer this as an Online Option. RYA Day Skipper Theory: | This is the navigational course that follows on from the Essential Navigation & Seamanship course, however it can be undertaken without having completed the Essential Navigation course prior. Although the RYA suggest that some practical experience is desirable, many will agree that having completed any of the introductory practical courses prior to undertaking this course, would prove hugely beneficial. Currently, SBT does not offer this as an Online Option. |
RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachmaster Coastal Theory: | This is the navigational course that follows on from the RYA Day Skipper Theory course. Candidates should be to the level of the RYA Day Skipper Theory and in addition they should possess the knowledge and experience to that of RYA Day Skipper Practical. It is recommended that Candidates have gained experience as the Skipper and utilised all skills and knowledge gained prior over a period of time. Currently, SBT does not offer this as an Online Option. |
