Our Fleet of XS Ribs have recently been fitted with the latest Raymarine Axiom+ 9" Chart Plotters & Ray 73 Multi Function VHF Radios

Navigation & Communication are vital to operating any vessel safely at sea and for that reason Solent Boat Training has ensured that the equipment available to both students and instructors, are of the highest standard. As modern electronics continue to improve, it is important that we know the benefits of fitting the correct equipment and also have a full understanding of how to operate it in all situations.

VHF SRC Radio

Our RYA VHF SRC Radio Course will teach you how to operate the radio correctly and how to send a variety of Voice and Digital Calls. On completion of the VHF SRC Course, we would advise you to complete the SRC Exam to ensure that you can operate the radio legally, in situations other than in an emergency.

Electronic Navigation

The use of electronic navigational devices such as GPS's and Chartplotters are almost the go to, in todays digital world.  Most of us would be lost without some means of navigational aid to get us to an unknown destination or to identify problems, such as roadworks or diversions en route. 

Navigation safely at Sea and being able to identify your exact location at any given time, is probably even more important than being on land, in many situations.

Electronic Navigation is covered at different levels on all of our practical boating courses, including:  Powerboat, Sailing & Motor Cruising courses, as well as the Navigational Theory courses, such as Essential Navigation & Seamanship, Day Skipper Theory, Coastal/Yachtmaster Theory courses.
