Had a really fun 2 days on the RYA powerboat level 2 course. Tristan was a fab instructor. He was knowledgeable, patient, positive and explained everything clearly. He made sure we got from the course what we all wanted to achieve. We have used SBT for a number of courses now and they are brilliant! Just debating what to book next! Thank you ????

Absolute professionalism throughout the training course. The online booking steps are clear and concise with very helpful course joining instructions. The classroom training is completed in very well equipped rooms that afford a high standard of theory training. The practical on-water sessions are very well managed in highly equipped and well maintained boats. The level of knowledge and training methods from the instructor was excellent. I can highly recommend Solent Boat Training for all your training needs.

Intermediate PB RYA Course
Southampton (Solent)
Had a good time on this course. What made it for me was that the instructor (Sean) asked us at the start about what we hoped to achieve on the course and managed to make sure all these items were covered as we went through the course, along with the core material. The second day practical is the best, we got to execute a great day long route plan and good tips and experience in handling rougher seas and how and when to use engine tilt. Thank you Sean and team, keep up the good work!

RYA Milebuilder

An enjoyable two days on the Solent. Unfortunately the lack of wind prevented the milebuilder so we spent time picking up marina and manoeuvring skills. Really challenged and picked up a bucketful of new skills and knowledge. I’m in the middle of day skipper and found the practical skills really helped my understanding of core subjects.

Powerboat Level 2 course

Alex was a great instructor, patient, clear, and very helpful. Booking it was easy and joining instructions were easy to follow. Parking was easy. End to end was an easy and enjoyable experience there were only three of us in the course so there was plenty of time to have a go and practice and Alex kept going until we got it. Two of us had little experience and limited ability. We left the course feeling very confident about taking out a power boat and renting it. A very good course and I thoroughly recommend it

I recently completed the RYA Powerboat Level 2 course with Solent Boat Training and had a fantastic experience. The course struck a great balance between theory and practical training. Tristan was an excellent instructor, knowledgeable, approachable, and always positive. He made the learning experience enjoyable and helped build my confidence on the water. I would definitely use Solent Boat Training again for any future powerboat or sailing qualifications. Highly recommended!

From A to Z a truly great experience. Rob was a brilliant teacher, the facilities are on a very good standard and well maintained. The whole atmosphere in the training centre is super friendly.

Excellent facilities, and good access to water, with a decent rib. Instructor, Bryan had a lovely easy going manner, allowing lots of hands on experience and learning from mistakes. A joyful experience, with recollection of the fundamentals, well ingrained in my mind.

Fantastic 5 days on Ecos. Instruction was excellent. Matt was calm and considered, briefing us on each aspect of the day ahead of walking us through the exercises. Also had a great crew, who made the five days fun and inclusive. Cannot rate the SBT highly enough, and will be doing many more courses with them. Thank you

Solent Boat Training was a great choice to do the 5 day RYA Day Skipper Theory course.. Very friendly folk and very good teaching facilities , Rob our instructor was excellent, very knowledgeable, very helpful with time for everyone and made the week fly by (thanks Rob)

Brilliant course, brilliant company. I did this with my 12 year old son and we both loved it. Bryan our instructor was incredibly professional - if you can get him you should, he is the perfect mix of informative, thorough and fun - however i met the whole team who all seemed to have the same approach. The equipment we used was extremely well maintained if it wasnt new. They managed a 12 year old boy's over excitment with great delicacy! Thanks Bryan

Day Skipper Practical

A thoroughly enjoyable 5 days at sea that exceeded my expectations. Thomas, our instructor, was extremely knowledgeable, but also a fantastic teacher, presenting the skills required for the course in a clear, accessible and enjoyable manner. The boat and all the equipment were safe, modern and comfortable, making the whole experience even more enjoyable.

Bryan was an outstanding instructor both days and confidence in support you on the course and amazing time at sea with RIB speed work on Sunday and all aspects on safetly and recovery. Planning on coming back to do Intermediate next March with Bryan and Radio Course in between.

Excellent experience 2 days sailing. The instructor Debbie was brilliant, very knowledgeable and happy to answer all our questions. She is an excellent teacher and gave all of us time to fully understand what was being taught to us. Definitely going to carry on advancing with the rya courses with sbt as I found them to be friendly and professional and the marina is well set up with facilities ( able to charge my electric car helped for journey home ! )

I've just done the RYA Day Skipper Practical course with SBT, and have thorougly enjoyed it! Tim, our instructor, was very knowledgeable, patient, and created a great atmoshpere on the boat. I'm really glad we've had Tim training and assessing us - you can see he has a lot of experience not just in sailing, but in teaching as well.
